The library works off of a Flexible Access Schedule. Each school day, students and staff have access to LMC resources.
Students in grades K-5 come to the LMC with teacher permission as needed to check out books for relaxed reading or assignments. Students come an average of once a week. However, students finishing their books earlier may come more frequently. Each classroom teacher decides on times that work out best for their class.
With flexible access scheduling, the classroom teacher and the LMC personnel are able to team together on projects that support the curriculum. Students come to the LMC individually, in small groups, or with the entire class to learn how they can find information for their projects. While this is occurring in the LMC, other students can continue to check out materials and work on individual projects. The LMC is the place that encourages and nurtures students to become avid readers, independent researchers and lifelong learners.
